Holiday Faves!

This is a compensated campaign in collaboration with Neutrogena and Latina Bloggers Connect
Hey guys! The holidays are here, which means family, food and holiday parties. (But mostly food...) and I LOVE to get dolled up for a party. When it comes to make-up, I've always been low maintenance. All I need is foundation, mascara, blush and eyeliner. I don't like make up that clumps up, or clogs up my pores. If you're the same, Neutrogena cosmetics are super duuuper simple. Here are some of my favorites for the holiday!

  • Neutrogena Healthy Skin Liquid Makeup(Natural Ivory 20) $13.99
  • Neutrogena Crease Proof Eye Shadow(Lasting Taupe)$7.99
  • Neutrogena Healthy Lengths Mascara  $8.99
  • Neutrogena MoistureSmooth Color Stick(Bright Berry)$8.99
I highly suggest the healthy liquid makeup if you want a light coverage. I love it because it doesn't feel like I have any makeup on! Another biggie for me is eye shadow because I never know what looks good with my eyes, or even how to put it on.The Crease Proof Eyeshadow is just a stick of eyeshadow! All you do is rub it on your eyelid and BAM! You've got a subtle yet sessi (couldn't say that word without giggling) look! If you wanted a heavier look, just reapply. Eyelashes are EVERYTHINGGGGGGGGGG. I seriously love Healthy Lengths mascara because it's supposed to help your lashes grow longer, AND make them look bold (also bootiful). (It's safe to wear if you have sensitive eyes, or wear contacts) Lastly, lips. If you're going to a holiday party, you gotta rock either a bold red lip, or a cute flirty pink lip. MoistureSmooth Color Stick has a nice bright color, while still hydrating your lips. And you are gonna need that when that cute boy walks over to you with a mistletoe...*WINK WINK* hahahaha jk. That only happens in the movies.*ugly cries inside* At the end of your magical night, make sure to take off your makeup with some Makeup Removers!!

ANYWAY. These are my holiday favs because they make me feel pretty on the inside, and outside. Also because I know these products won't ruin my face with harsh chemicals ;)

MayaInTheMoment's NYC Favs!

Hey guys! I just got back from NYC, and it was probably the best trip I have ever been on. (Mind you that this is my sixth or seventh year traveling to the Big Apple.) With that, here are my top 5 fav things I did on this New York City trip.

1. NYC in Fall
Those leaves, crisp air, and pumpkin spice lattes(do u even pumpkin spice latte?! jk) I honestly LOVE FALL. Especially in NYC. Since I'm from Arizona,(where the sun's kisses are like satan's farts in your face.Wait, what?) it was nice wear a jacket and scarf for once. Also, look how pretty Central Park is!!!

BoiFromIpanema playing in the leaves.
2. Central Park's Bubble Man (Yes, BUBBLES!)
There's this magical man in Central Park, around Bethesda Fountain. He literally has a huge net that he dips in a bucket containing magical bubble juice. Then, he waves it around and all the lil' children gather to pop them. These bubbles are gigantic, and they were MY bubbles. (Finding Nemo reference, anyone?)

3. Eataly's EVERYTHING.
Oh.My.Gawt. This place is heaven. Eataly, according to the internets: "is a high-end Italian food market/mall chain which first opened in Turin, Italy, in January 2007. A New York City Eataly opened in August 2010."
The food is heaven. The atmosphere is heaven. The coffee is heaven. Even though it's expensive, it'll definitely be worth your money. I just...unffff.

4. Museum of Natural History
Yeah, nuff' said.

My favorite part of traveling is experiencing it with friends. BoiFromIpanema, Jeshua, is probably my favorite travel partner. (Also, possibly my favorite person, because well, he's amazing) You gotta have a ride or die when you travel. Some who will drag out to get late night pizza because it's tradition. (Thanks for that, btw!) It's also good to have local friends who can show you around. Ever since Vine, I've befriended so many wonderful people. I was happy I got to meet some of them in NYC!

1. First night of meeting Vine friends.
2. Second night meeting Vine friends.(Us in Action!)
3. My beautiful cousin Christina!
4. BoiFromIpanema, my favorite travel partner<3

Overall, I always have SO much fun whenever I go to New York. If you're planning on a vacation, I recommend this wonderful place. Bring comfortable shoes though. (Btw, Thank you Justice, for letting me borrow your winter clothes and boots. <3) I <3 New York. Every time I come back, I always feel like the possibles are endless. I feel so inspired to kick up my career, and to some day reside in the big city. Until next time, New York!

DIY Summertime Swirly Shoes

Hey everyone! It's SUMMERTIME! YAAAAAY! I found these cute kicks on clearance at Target for five bucks. (Score!) I LOVE the color, but since it's summertime I thought I'd make them pop even more by adding yarn swirls and gems.

Katy Perry Lashes by Elure Review!

Hey everyone! This is first of many beauty reviews! I LOVE false eyelashes. I think they're a great enhancement that'll light up your face, and eyes. (OoLaLa!) I've seen Katy Perry Lashes  in Target for quite sometime now and have always been curious to try them.(They are also $6.99...) So, I built up the courage to try them and see what the hype was about. (What a tough decision...I know.) Ms. Perry's has four different lashes:

I picked these!

The application was super easy, considering the glue came with a tiny wand, Rather than getting it all goopy on your fingers, or cotton swab. The directions provide wonderful tips and suggestions on how to perfectly apply and fit them. This was a SUPER easy process. Usually by the end of my application process, I'm so fed up with trying to reglue...I just rip them off. haha..serious. I DREAD putting these little suckers on. Until now! Thanks Katy Perry and Eylure, I didn't want to rip these off. ;) I give these lashes FOUR out of Five Heart Flutters!!

Make Your Own Mariachi Pants!

I've been so busy with finals that I forgot the share last week's craft project for iLoveToCreate! My dad helped me make these crazy and kooky mariachi-inspired pants! Yes, I really wore them out last weekend too! Mexican spirit, style and music should be celebrated all year long, not just on Cinco de Mayo, right????

Speaking of mariachi music - check out my friend's band called METALACHI! It's heavy metal and mariachi combined! Look out for the violinist, he is a longtime family friend and is amazingly talented, he's Quetzal Guerrero.

These are my "Tell me about it, STUD." Flats. (Clever, right?) I LOVE me some black flats, but what do you do when they get scruffed up? STUD THEM! This is a QUICK and EASY project using Liquid Fusion! Here we go!

Step One: I lightly sanded my shoes in the area I wanted to glue. Next, pour some glue into a paint tray, and with a bamboo stick, apply glue on to the back of stud.

Step Two: Place stud on to your shoe. If you're unsure of a pattern, google "Studded Flats" and you'll find some ideas! For this project I did sort of a triangle, top row=6, middle=5, and bottom=4. Play around with it!

Step Three: Wait for about an hour for them to dry. After that, wear those babies out!
Check out this quick video I posted on Vine(@mayainthemoment) of the process!
I also made a headband! does it match my pink streaks? So punk, right? :)

CRAFT: Happy Go Lucky Jewelry Set!

I made this crazy jewelry set in honor of St. Patrick's Day. I normally don't like big and bold jewelry, but it just kind of came out that way and I think I love it!

Can you guess what material I used? It's not clay! You'll have to visit my tutorial at iLoveToCreate to find out!

CRAFT: Easy Zipper Bracelets

I've been wanting to try and make zipper bracelets since, like, forever. I went to a local fabric supply store in town and bought a whole bag of remnant zippers.

When you buy zippers for this project, you really want the ZIPPER part to show so look for zipper that have chunky gold or silver teeth, as opposed to the boring ones that are painted the same color as the fabric.

For the bracelets I made, I opened them and cut them right above the zipper handle. These are going to be my bracelet bases. Cut to fit your wrist.

Now it's time to load up on all kinds of iLovetoCreate products to embellish your bracelets. I used:

Aleene's® Fabric Fusion® Peel & Stick Tape™ to apply ribbon.

 Gotta  have Puffy Paint!

When they are done, they'll look like this. I really love bright colors so I used a lot of contrast in my bracelets. Now it's time to make them wearable!
Snip off a piece of Aleene's® Hook & Loop Tape™ and affix to each end.

Here they are, my finished bracelets. It was cold outside, so my Puffy Paint one is still drying, I'm excited to wear it too!

This was a really fun project, I plan to make a lot more for my friends! Hey, if you like this project, you might like my other bracelet idea too! Stiffened Embroidery Floss Friendship Bracelets.
Thanks for checking out my project, come see me on my Facebook page!

CRAFT: Ugly Sweater Revamp!

Hey guys! It's officially December and of course- SWEATER SEASON! WOO! Anyone? No? Alright, well i'm super excited because I have tons of itchy ugly sweaters. Most of them are pretty cool, but some need re-vamping! If you don't believe me, watch my sweater video HERE .So that is what I've decided to do today!!
First I applied the crystals. I used a variety of big, medium and small crystals. I wanted to add some sort of design, so I started big at the top and gradually got smaller. I love how it looks! If this is your first time using the heat tool, have no fear! it's really simple! There's an on button, along with another button to press when you're actually applying the crystals. Careful though, it gets hot pretty quick! Use the tool as directed in the first picture for about 30 seconds. The heat will transfer all the way to the back of the crystal, activating the glue!

Okay, here is how I glued the pockets. I cut out a piece of fabric as a template.Because I used oil cloth, I had to actually use these templates for the backing. Using Aleene's No Sew Fabric Glue , I found that is not a washable glue, so instead I used Aleene's OK To Wash-It.This whole gluing process took me a full day for everything to set.

Once everything is glued, you're good to go! Now, go forth and represent your not-so-ugly-sweater!

Christmas Waltz Lyric Dress

It's the holiday season! As a musician, that mean the holiday song requests will be coming in. I have a couple gigs comingup next month and thought I'd make some Christmasy attire.

My favorite song is Christmas Waltz (I even covered it HERE!) and I thought it would be cool to stamp the song lyrics on a dress.
So here we go, this is how I made it!

Cotton dress - the smoother the fabric the easier it will be to stamp on.
 1. Set your dress out on a flat surface. If it is a brand new dress, make sure to wash and iron it. Spread out the dress if it is flared, and use the chalk to draw light guidelines so you'll know where to stamp your letters and keep them even.

2. Set out your letter stamps on a table. I found it was easiest to sort them by upper and lower case in alpha order.

3. Get stamping! Press the stamp onto the ink pad, make sure it is super juicy and then firmly press onto fabric. I like that the stamps have a little handle, that way they press evenly.

 4. Once all the lyrics are stamped, you'll want to embellish! I covered my dress in Tulip Gold Glitter Spray, it's a fine mist so it doesn't look overpowering, which I like.

 5. Because I want my dress to be noticed from the stage, I thought I'd add some green accents with pompom fringe. I used Aleene's Fabric Fusion double sided tape to add it. I didn't want to sew and I like that the tape is permanent bonding!

 6. Lastly, I added Tulip Glam It up Crystals on the collar and added a feather brooch.

I'm ready for the show!
